Boat Trips

Beyond the sea there is much to explore.
The surroundings complemented by the natural wealth of this small island, strategically located in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, are an invitation for the discovery and exploration of the best that nature has to offer leaving the commotion of modern day living well beyond the horizon.

The landscaping contrast are one of it’s most attractive features. The island can be divided into two distinct zones. The first extends to the south and west, plain and sunny, featuring low lying, bush like, vegetation. The other covers the north and northeast sector, mountainous and rolling hills, with dense and lush vegetation.

The coast is ragged, forming bays and small coves or inlets resulting in the pleasant and welcoming beaches, the well known are São Lourenço Bay and Praia Formosa, being the only light colored sandy beaches in the Azores.

One of the great contributors to the natural patrimony of Santa Maria is it’s geological and geomorphologic aspects. It is the only island in the Azores that hold deposits of marine fossils (Pedreira do Campo, Grutas do Figueiral, Cré and Pedra que Pica) Sites not to be missed!

The richness and diversity of the Island of Santa Maria is made-up of many singularities.

Go ahead and come to discover Santa Maria, you will be pleasantly surprised and amazed!
